flexible on call person / sms script

Hello All,,

We have 24/7 server monitoring and because of this i used this script that sends out an sms when an action is occuring. Now it would be extremely handy if i could somehow create an screen somewhere in zabbix where i'd be able to select the 'on-call' person instead of disabling the media option script in the user profiles.

Did anybody ran into the same issue?

I was kind of hoping that selecting the On-Call person would be in the escalation module of 1.6. But it looks like that is a much more difficult task that we first believed. Escalation has been 10% completed for several weeks now, and does not look like it will make it any time soon.

Rather than wait another year for escalation, I think the best way is to create a "[email protected]" email address. Then create a script that changes /etc/aliases to alias the oncall address to one of the other email addresses. A bit complicated and round about way of doing it, and perhaps there are better ways, but I cannot think of any right now.
