    No connectivity to Windows XP

I am monitoring two Windows XP systems both of which were working. Recently on one of the systems after an upgrade an application of Microsoft security fixes I can no longer monitor the system.

On the Zabbix server I get "Timeout while connecting to ..."
The only messages in the client log are "Processing took more than 100 milliseconds".

I can ping from the client to the server.

    How can I troubleshoot this?

Do you have the XP firewall running. If so you might try turning it off or at a minimum setting an exception for the zabbix client and for the port it is using. Also turning on the firewall logging can show if packets are being denied.

Some other tools you may find handy are "Active Ports" http://www.protect-me.com/freeware.html and Ethereal http://www.ethereal.com/. Active ports is a windows application that shows you what ports are being used and ethereal is a packet capture application that runs on both platforms.

Windows software firewall in not running. ZoneAlarm is, but it is also on the machines that are acessable with similar rules.

Active Ports shows the zabbix exe listening on port 10050.
