    Hi mora'

you have 2 things to modify :
    * the server bin

download the source and compile the server bin
you should compile it with the --prefix to put it in a different directory than the 1.4.2

    * the frontend pages
change your web server conf to point to the new webpages

from the 1.4.2, i m pretty sure you do not need to modify the db

then you could start your zabbix server and configure the frontends as usual...

    hth,

Thanks for the post Vinny !

      I guess I upgrade to 1.4.5.
I copy back it up all PHP directory and Conf. files, Also mysql, which is what Im using as db
      Then I untar the zabbix-1.4.5.tarin the directory I ./configure --enable-server --prefix=/usr/local/sbin/zabbix --with-mysql -- with-net-snmp --with-libcurl

then it starting checking for BSD-compatible install../usr/bin/install -c

after check all the processes I got:
      Now run 'make install'

      So, Make install.
All completed, so I copied Zabbix Conf.php back.

Question, How do I know what version is now?
On the page shows zabbix 1.4.4 ?
      I dont get it.

I wish I can create a step-by-step since to copy to accomplished to people like me, noob, have a good direction to how upgrade. I know a lot o people ask this many time, but it will be nice.

      Thanks !

I did not understand very well what u did but...
for the server, u can see the version in the logs (defined in zabbix_server.conf)
for the interface, it is weird...if u had 1.4.2 and now u see 1.4.4, it seems like u upgraded it...

        what's exactly ur question ?

            Thanks swaterhouse !
            Infinity005 show me your post.
I did tried install using this directions.
            When I use wget http://superb-east.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/zabbix/zabbix-$1.tar.gz
The link is broken so I download manually and placed in the directory.

              Hi Vinny.
I guess I did upgrade following the directions.
But I can find any record if I did upgrade or not.
I lookup on zabbix_server.conf and nope, its not there.
Any other location? I just want to make sure I did upgrade.
              Thank you all !

The version number of the gui is in the bottom blue page footer with the copyright information.

the agent and server versions can be determined with the following commands
                /usr/local/sbin/zabbix_agentd --version
                /usr/local/sbin/zabbix_server --version

I downloaded zabbix-1.4.5.tar but look like it was 1.4.4??? or am I wrong?
