    is my email Action setup properly?

    Ok i setup an email Action with only one condition:

    Trigger severity >= "Information"

    so my thinking was that ANY host that throws any kind of trigger will send me an email (BTW this is just to test the email function).
    So i took down an Agent completely, but no email was sent! the status shows "HIGH" severity, but my action Log shows an email was not even attempted to be sent. The server log also shows not inclination of the server trying to send an email either.

    whats up with that!!??

    You did give an email address to the user that is getting the alert, correct? The email time frame is set properly, right?

    One of the guys I work with was having a problem exactly as you described and his problem was he was sending to a user who was configured only to get emails between 8am-5pm and he was testing the errors after 5pm. Everything went off, but no email was sent.

    If the user has an email and correct time frames configured, I am afraid I don't know off the top of my head. I can try it out on our test system tomorrow if need be.

        ahh well i didn't realize that you have to configure a media type for each user individually....i didn't my user setup for any media types. once i created an email type for myself I started getting emails!
