OK, I installed zabbix 2.4.1 and now I am having hell putting in devices. It seems the only way to do this is to build templates myself because there are not any. So many cisco devices and only 4 cisco templates on http://www.zabbix.org/wiki/Zabbix_Templates
I have wireless devices from Cisco, Engenius and Ubiquiti.
I have Dell and Cisco Switches. Cisco routers. Cisco ASA and Palo Alto firewalls. Avaya PBX... worse yet I scoured the internet for zabbix templates for more recent cisco - like the ASA CX and 2650x, 2900 and 3900 series routers.
Zabbix is hard to install, hard to use and even harder to set up what it is needed for - monitioring. I saw friend of mine using PRTG at his site and laughed him to scorn for using that crap - but guess what, the joke was on me, as it only needed 2 steps to monitor a device - right click and add a device, then put in the snmp community... THAT's IT, it brought up all the interfaces on the router and automatically graphed them... and did way more, but my purpose is not to promote it... Just 2 steps. Why can't zabbix be that simple.
