Default port for zabbix falls into the range of 10000-20000 which are used by asterisk. So I've been forced to find a different port to setup zabbix on. We've already got the zabbix server up and running and are monitoring a number of other hosts using the default ports of 10050 and 10051.

I whipped a script together that logs into the Asterisk AMI and returns some key Asterisk data :

Skype (Licenses,Calls)
G729 (Licenses, Encoders,Decoders)
Asterisk (Calls, Channels)

This is all without the yucky launching of the asterisk CLI or dealing with sudoers....

hi, today if i want to check something from asterisk, like the active calls, I add a parameter on the zabbix_agentd.conf and then create a item with the same name.

eg:
UserParameter=active.calls,sudo /usr/sbin/asterisk -rvvvvvx 'show channels'|grep --text -i 'active call'|awk...
