Zabbix 1.8.3 RPMs for CentOS and RHEL 5

Once again I built RPMs for Zabbix using the OpenSUSE build service, updated to version 1.8.3

CentOS repository (i386 [32 bit] and x86_64 [64 bit] packages both available)

RedHat 5 repository (i386 [32 bit] and x86_64 [64 bit] packages both available)

There are .repo files located here as well.... you could wget these into /etc/yum.repos.d, and then in theory an install of Zabbix 1.8.3 would be as simple as running 'yum install zabbix zabbix-server zabbix-agent'

    http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...rt:zabbix.repo (CentOS repo file)

    http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...rt:zabbix.repo (RHEL 5 repo file)

    hey eric

I've been using your repository for my 1.8.2 install.. to install zabbix agent using YUM and it has been great. Now that its updated to 1.8.3 its going to install the 1.8.3 agent?

Will it function ok with a 1.8.2 Zabbix install?

It looks like you're asking me if a Zabbix 1.8.3 agent will work against a Zabbix 1.8.2 server

I don't have a Zabbix 1.8.2 server handy to test this... I would guess that a minor release like going from 1.8.2 -> 1.8.3 wouldn't matter, but I haven't tested this.

Do you have a test box that you could upgrade to Agent 1.8.3?

          1.8.2 agent with 1.8.3 server

          Hi,
I have had 1.8.2 agents for various Linux versions being monitored by 1.8.3 on CentOS for about a week and have not had any problems.

eric what are the chances of getting a zabbix agent compiled for XenServer added to the repository? I have lots of xenservers and it would make my life a lot easier.. I can provide you the compiled working agent

i dont want to be rude but you read de docs?

web interface depends on apache, you know to configure it....

can you be more explicit about the "whole process" ?

                          first look in /usr/share/doc/zabbix-server-1.8.3
                          - here you will find the files to create db schema and populate it
                          next
                          config files are in /etc/zabbix
                          ...
read what is zabbix-server and zabbix-proxy how they are used and when

after you have this you can go for web interface

                          Regards

                            no jabber support

                            Hi,
zabbix-server installed, but i have no jabber support, maybe adding iksemel dependency and compile with --with-jabber is good idea?
Also standard log paths will be nice (no problem to reconfigure ... but you know ;-) ).
