    Discover uptime/downtime

It is not really clear to me how the auto discovery implements the uptime/downtime parameters.

    Lets say:

    - I have a discovery set to run every hours using icmp ping
    - It discovers a new machine (ping only)
    - The discovery triggers an action _if_ the uptime condition is - lets say - six hours.

Is it means if the machine discovered six hours ago and still up (discovered state) then the action triggered?

Basically: do I have a zabbix agent installed on the discovered machine to make the uptime/downtime condition work?

no agent needed for simple checks.
if you need the OS to link specific templates and such, you need the agent.

the uptime for discovery as i understand it is related only to the discovery process : time since last discovery check was down or first seen. if one of the checks find something, the host is considered up for the discovery process.
