Monitoring remote sites(TRAPPER?)

Hi.

I've just installed Zabbix on my VMWare Ubuntu(testing) , think it's great, but I have a way to go to configure it properly for my needs.

Thing is, we have a bunch of remote sites, which have NAT, firewalls, and some of those sites don't even have static Internet IP address.

So, my question is, is it possible to monitor servers and workstations there by Zabbix server( which is accessible from the Internet) using only one way connections from Agents to Server , (I think that will be Trapper,)?

If not, are there any good workarounds ?

You may consider using active checks. In this case agent will connect to ZABBIX server. No connections from the server side will ever be initiated!

Use of ZABBIX Proxy is the best alternative for monitoring of remote locations having more than 10-100 devices. ZABBIX Proxy would be installed in the remote network, collect performance and availability data from the locations and forward everything to the server.

We guarantee extremely easy maintenance and good sleep!

What IP address should I configure when configuring Host(active checks only) in Zabbix webconsole? Leave it 0.0.0.0? Thanks

The IP address is optional, leave it empty.

It means that the value you entered does not look like an IP address.
