data usage per month

Hi there,

I've set up snmp monitoring of a cisco switch, but now I want to know what each port uses per month on traffic. I thought that the monthly read of the ifInOctets and ifOutOctets and take their delta should do the trick, but will this give problems when the Octets counter is reset by the switch?
Is there a more logical way to do this?

You will have to check each entry in the database read from the switch, in order to find out how many times the counter has reset, and then calculate the data amount from that.

I've written a couple of scripts to perform this function on my own system. Right now I use it to generate weekly bandwidth reports for every port on one of our switches. If you would like a copy let me know and I'll clean it up a little bit for you and send it to you.
