    Zabbix Server Errors

I have just built a new Zabbix Server based on a Debian platform using MySQL DB. I am getting quite a few errors in the server log files and I can't find anything recent and relevant that addresses the cause. The erros are as follows:

    Code:
3525:20091029:142221 Item [Zabbix:vfs.fs.size[/var,pused]] error: Type of received value [SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.1p1 Debian-5Protocol mismatch.] is not suitable for value type [Numeric (float)]
3526:20091029:142221 Item [Zabbix:vfs.fs.size[/tmp,total]] error: Type of received value [SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.1p1 Debian-5Protocol mismatch] is not suitable for value type [Numeric (integer 64bit)]
3526:20091029:142221 Item [Zabbix:vfs.fs.size[/usr,total]] error: Type of received value [SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.1p1 Debian-5Protocol mismatch] is not suitable for value type [Numeric (integer 64bit)]

The server was built from source using the article I found here:

The server is a 32bit old Dell 1750 with a few gigs of RAM. I used the latest Debian distribution "lenny" / V5 which runs a 2.6.26-2-686 kernel.

    -----------------------------

Some additional information the agent on the Zabbix server was built from the same source at the same time as the server. Any help as to what's gone wrong would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I assume you are collecting values from a remote agent (that is, one that your Zabbix Server is connecting through SSH2)

I've no idea how Zabbix plays with SSH2, but you did configure the private+public ssh keys pair right?
Do you manage to connect directly to the remote machine via 'ssh remote_machine_name' with no password asked?

I hadn't configured SSH at all interestingly - I left the zabbix agent with the default config it came with from the install. Though the agent and server in this case are on the same box. When I use remote agents there doesn't seem to be a problem (at least that I've noticed)

As for the location the agent is on the same box as the server and the server is definitely talking to the agent as some information is comming back.

I'll go and check through all the config now and see whether I can spot something

I've had a check and I can't see anything referring to SSH or using an SSL tunnel for comms and I've re-compiled / re-installed the agent but still have the same problem (I did check for compile options around SSH but didn't immediately spot any...)

          Hi,

Since Zabbix server is obviously talking to an ssh server instead of Zabbix agent, are you sure that either:
          - you have set up port 10050 for zabbix agent in host "Port" configuration and not port 22 (standard port for ssh)
          - you have an ssh server listening on non standard port 10050 on remote server ?

          Hope this helps

Well I'm not sure what's changed - other than re-installing the server (swapped to postgres from mysql) and re-installing the agent - but the errors are no longer appearing in the logs - I did check SSH and it was configured to listen on port 22 as per normal.

Thanks for replying I will keep an eye on the logs and see if it appears again.

              Possible firewall redirect?

Is it possible that a firewall or router rule is redirecting your zabbix traffic to an SSH port?
