Have you got an Entity Relationship Diagram of the Database?

Would help in getting into the data to see what is going on.

not really. the tables you might be interested in :

items
triggers
sysmaps
sysmaps_elements
sysmaps_link_triggers
sysmaps_links

sysmaps_link_triggers contains, as the name suggests, map link-trigger linkage.
deleting an item should delete the trigger, and deleting the trigger should remove it's reference from this table.

if you can compare trigger linkage for some older map with one for a fresh map, maybe you can spot some difference.
we wouldn't want you to run out of older maps, would leave use without playground

I upgrade my zabbix1.8.2 to 1.8.3 and i have no problem with my map.
