can't find Global Notifications options

I know that the documentation states that the options for enabling global notifications are in the user profile but I can't find them anywhere, the options I have are:
Alias, Name, Surname, Password, User type, Groups, Language, Theme, Auto-login, Auto-logout, Refresh, Rows per page, URL and Media
can somebody point me towards them?

In the top right-hand corner of any page, you will see 'Profile'. Click it!
At the bottom of the box which opens, select the check box where it says GUI Messaging. Pandoras box will open . . . .
