Host status

Hi
I am using beta6 version. Can somebody guide me how to monitor a the status of the host. Eg:- in beta2 we had a parameter called "STATUS" to monitor. In beta6 this parameter is not supported.
Please could someone help me in finding this parameter.

I could be wrong here, but I do believe that status is calculated simply from server->agent (or in the case of active checks server<-agent) communication.

no separate key is necessary.

I'm pretty sure status is useless if you're using an active only agent that can not be reached by the zabbix server. For agents that are not reachable by zabbix, you know if they are down by using nodata() on an item.
