Zabbix DB Backup Leads to Ping Failures?

I've been using a simple MySQLDump command to back up the Zabbix database, and this seems to be working well enough, except when the backup completes, Zabbix throws a "Ping Failed" event for every single Host in my configuration.

What is the appropriate way to prevent this from happening?

mysqldump locks the tables while dumping, you need to add --single-transaction.
