Best to start off with a template already created for a cisco.
How much do you know about SNMP and about cisco IOS??

First we need to set up a community on the cisco switch, this is like setting up a remote login and access for devices that want to use SNMP
e.g. let user public have read acccess to SNMP

    On the switch/router type in
    conf t
    snmp-server community public R

Next you need to know what your mib if index's are on your cisco switch for this type in
    show snmp mib ifmib ifindex

This will give you a list

Last, with the template you are using modliy the snmp OID so the last digits repersent your ifindex

e.g. lets say you want to monitor FastEthernet0/1-IN and zabbix says the the OID is .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.10001 but your cisco switch says the ifindex for FastEthernet0/1 is 11111 then modifly .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.10001 to .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.11111

You can have more than one community entry so you might also want to add
    snmp-server community itws R

as I think some templates use that as well (or change the template)

    Hope this helps

      Thanks for the reply
      Consultation and says I

      GigabitEthernet0/0: Ifindex = 1
      Loopback0: Ifindex = 22
      Null0: Ifindex = 20
      VoIP-Null0: Ifindex = 19
      FastEthernet1/0: Ifindex = 3
      Vlan1: Ifindex = 21
      GigabitEthernet0/1: Ifindex = 2
      FastEthernet1/1: Ifindex = 4
      FastEthernet1/10: Ifindex = 13
      Vlan101: Ifindex = 23
      FastEthernet1/2: Ifindex = 5
      Vlan301: Ifindex = 25
      FastEthernet1/11: Ifindex = 14
      FastEthernet1/3: Ifindex = 6
      Vlan102: Ifindex = 24
      FastEthernet1/4: Ifindex = 7
      FastEthernet1/12: Ifindex = 15
      FastEthernet1/5: Ifindex = 8
      FastEthernet1/13: Ifindex = 16
      FastEthernet1/6: Ifindex = 9
      FastEthernet1/7: Ifindex = 10
      FastEthernet1/14: Ifindex = 17
      FastEthernet1/8: Ifindex = 11
      FastEthernet1/9: Ifindex = 12
      FastEthernet1/15: Ifindex = 18

      For example I want to monitor FastEthernet1 / 4 is 7 ok?

I look other cisco template and I can not realize as follow.
Which I recommend you to use and modify default?

      Best Wishes

          snmp mib

          Hi guys,

Sorry for crashing into your thread, but since both of you already worked on monitoring cisco switches using zabbix, I may as well as this question.

Do I need to download, the specific MIB and save it on the zabbix server for me to monitor a specific OID? Let's say I want to monitor object: cpsGlobalMaxSecureAddress OBJECT-TYPE, do I have to download the MIB where it came from? Which is in this instance CISCO-PORT-SECURITY-MIB.my?

          ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/v2/CISC...ECURITY-MIB.my

Hoping to hear from you guys. Thank you.
