Zabbix Migration from 1.8 to 2.0

Dear Forum Users,

we want to migrate all configuration data (hosts, templates, ...) to a new zabbix 2.0 installation.
Is there a howto or something else?
What data can be migrated?

Sorry Dude, we want a complete host transfer.
We dont want to update the old 1.8 box to 2.0.
So, who knows some best practices, migrating the settings, templates, ... to a new zabbix server.

As far as I'm aware your only option is a database backup and restore.

I've just completed the process - we needed to move zabbix to a new machine.

Built a fresh zabbix 2.0 server, then used mysql dump to backup and then restore to the new server.

What DB are you using?

I had database problems in 1.8 of my own making and was unable to get a stable MySQL dump of the database to upgrade it to 2.0. As a result I chose a fresh installation of 2.0 and tried to export and import most things including hosts, templates, etc.

It was a very painful process due to some errors that the import procedure did not like, and I highly recommend upgrading/working with the existing database if possible rather than having to spend the time I did with failed imports and manual host/template recreation.
