    Integrating Zabbix and Netcool

    Hi,

I have the situation where a managed service provider is monitoring networks and servers up to operating system and the application teams are monitoring the application & face off to clients of the system.

The managed service provider is using Zabbix and the application teams are using Netcool. I'd like to be able to send alerts from Zabbix into Netcool so that alerts are visible to the app team.

Initial thought was to send SNMP traps generated by the Zabbix server into Netcool; however the network and security teams are suggesting that (1) SNMP is difficult to get working through firewalls and (2) there are potentially some security issues with it.

Any thoughts or ideas on this? Is there a better alternative (syslog, perhaps?)? Any input most appreciated...

    Regards, Ian

I think syslog is a good option - have done that with other systems (small scale).

Or maybe even install a netcool agent on the zabbix server and forward messges/events with that - as I remember the netcool agent have commando options you should be able to use - but I may be wrong.
