Active check does not work on windows ?

    Hi,

I would like to use active check to supervise windows services
While "active" is working fine, "active check" does not work for the same item
    definition (service[snmp])

I don't know if I am using active check correctly or if it is a bug
any help (or documentation on active check is welcome)

    I am using beta 9

    Regards

Taken from the readme.txt file included in the zabbix source:

      service_state[<srv>]
State of service <srv>. The following states can be returned:
      0 - Running
      1 - Paused
      2 - Start pending
      3 - Pause pending
      4 - Continue pending
      5 - Stop pending
      6 - Stopped
      7 - Unknown
      255 - SCM communication error

Please note that <srv> should be real service name (as it seen in service properties under "Name:"), not service display name!

        My english is too bad
        I was not clear

I did the following item for a host:

        type : Zabbix agent
        key : service_state[SNMP]

The agent send me correctly the status of the SNMP Service
but I planned to use the following type:
Zabbix agent (active) in order to only have a event when the value changes
and when I stop the SNMP service nothing happens. ...

        What's wrong ?

Zabbix agent (active) in order to only have a event when the value changes
That is not the purpose of the active agent.

The active agent will push the item values to your zabbix server at the interval you specified for that item.

What do you expect to happen? Did you set a trigger for this check ?
At least in latest values you should see the item's value changed.

I think I misunderstood the role af the active check.

I thought the agent was smart enough to have locally the trigger attached to the item and then send alert only when the trigger is required.
