I have installed many agents inside our network and they run properly, but I remotely installed a agent on an outside network which in a different network and it did not respond to the zabbix server. 
I also would like to know how to configure the agent config file and the server to let it pass through the firewall. I do not have allot of knowledge with the zabbix program.
