Dns (bind) monitoring without agent

Hi,

I have DNS server in my DC which is not under my administration. (I don't have credetials). So I cannot install zabbix agent. Is there a way to mınitor DNS service without agent.

Note that I can only access UDP 53 of DNS server other ports are blocked by firewall.

In addition to the port check, you can create an external check script which invokes /usr/bin/host to check if a certain address is still resolving.
For example

/usr/bin/host -s -W 2 www.zabbix.com my.dns.server

If it returns errorcode 0 www.zabbix.com resolves
else it doesn't...
