The company's compression molding press features precision control of clamp force through a proportional pneumatic pressure control system. Closed loop pressure control provides 50 lbs. to 6,000 lbs. of force and requires only 100 psi of compressed air (typically available from an in-plant system). The press is said to be ideal for vacuum chamber compression molding of a variety of rubber and plastics requiring precise low pressure force control, including testing, prototyping and production applications. It is said to be very quiet in operation and is said to be ideal for clean room use (no hydraulics). Fully programmable, computer-based controls dictate all operating parameters, including temperature and pressure, and provide for data storage. The press, Model PS3H8-CLX, is equipped with an integral vacuum chamber, and 8" x 8" electrically heated (up to 650[degrees] F) and water cooled platens. It can be engineered with and without a vacuum chamber, integral vacuum pump and water cooling. It is said to be fundamentally a benchtop design, available with an optional floor stand. Standard electrically heated platens are available in sizes to 18" x 18". (Wabash MPI, P.O. Box 298, Wabash, IN 46992-0298)
