    Help with tweaking a template

    Hi All,

I need some help in tweaking a template to suite our needs. I'm new to zabbix and these kind of work is over my head still.

The template in question: https://share.zabbix.com/network_dev...ikrotik-snmpv2 (Advanced Template Net Mikrotik SNMPv2)

The issue I'm having is with the interface discovery. I only want to discover two interfaces: ether1 and pppoe type interfaces.

If anyone can help me with this or at least point me in the right direction, that would be great.

    Kind Regards,

You could use the regex function...
Go to Administration -> General -> Regular expressions (that is a dropdown)
Create a new regex, name it anything you want and create an expression like:
    Result is TRUE - ether1
    Result is TRUE - pppoe

Next, go into your template -> discovery rules -> "your discovery rule" -> Filters -> create a new filter like:
    {#SNMPVALUE} matches @your regex name

Please let us know if that works...
You can look at the Windows, Linux and Cisco templates, they all have these rules in place.

Maybe add a preprocessing step? I'm not sure as I'm not a Zabbix guru but couldn't you add a validation preprocessing step to filter out the discovered devices? If not, craft a static rule from the LLD declaration.

Ignore me, Mike2K's answer sounds like the cleanest way to achieve the desired outcome.
