The upgrade from version 1.8.X to version 4.X includes the new templates?

In fact, we upgraded a long time ago, but just now I wanted to resolve a question. Zabbix 1.8.11 had the templates Template_Linux and Template_Windows. And version 4.X has Template OS Linux and Template OS Windows.

I noticed that after the upgrade the existing templates were not modified nor the ones with the new name were added. Neither the other miscellaneous new ones were included. Which was good. But was it something expected?

But now I'm thinking of changing the name of the templates to the current version 4.X name. When I upgrade Zabbix from 4.0.5 to 4.0.11, for example, can they change?

In short, I want to know if the upgrade includes or modifies templates.

I also think about deleting the templates we don't use. Did you do it? Deleted templates that weren't useful? If I delete and later want to have it again, can I recover any?

The Zabbix upgrade function does not add new templates or migrate to new templates.

If you upgrade from Zabbix 1.8 to 4.0 using standard scripts and Zabbix server functionality, you can simply convert the configured template and host information to the new format. Do not add new templates or migrate to new templates. The same is true when upgrading from 4.0.5 to 4.0.11.

If you want to use a new template, consider downloading and importing from the following site:
Join the friendly and open Zabbix community on our forums and social media platforms.

As a point of caution, if you replace the template, you may not be able to refer to the value of the item of the past host.

You can delete unnecessary templates. You can export and save it using the template export feature, or you can download the standard Zabbix template from the previous site. However, if the versions are different, import may not be possible.
