Can't get proxy to work in zabbix 2.2

    Hi there,

I've got a working master server with zabbix 2.2, polling a number of machines.

I've added a proxy to the fix, but when I switch one of the hosts being monitored over to use the proxy instead it stops accumulating data.

The proxy is a passive configuration.

I can see traffic between the master and the proxy (using tcpdump), but the host isn't being pinged (using the icmp template).

The zabbix proxy log isn't being particularly helpful in getting to the bottom of the issue.

How do I go about debugging this configuration?

    Thanks,
    Joe

Look in config file of zabbix_server, how often configuration is updated. It does not happen instantly.

At some point server should send configuration to the proxy, configuration then is stored in proxy's database. You can select from table "items" on server and proxy and compare the list of items, all items that belong to hosts, that should be monitored via that proxy should be in both databases.

Do you have your server and proxy of same major versions (e.g. 2.2.) ? Otherwise it won't work.

You can try to put debug level to 4 on proxy and search for word Fail there, if I remember correctly.

Looks like it is working - but there are all sorts of delays (default 1 hour update) associated with passive proxies which meant that it wasn't configuring immediately.
