I think it's not possible with internal vfs.fs.discovery. You could probably write your own discovery, see example in documentation. You will need to filter out removable drives.

Also, if I remember correctly, since 2.4 you can use multiple filters in discovery, so you can filter out unneeded drives.

One more workaround - just disable items for backup disks.

the thing is that the backup disks rotate every week and it will change some triggers to unknown.
what is the requaler expression to exclude a drive letter from discovery?

No, if you will disable item for that disk?

Just came to mind, that this solution with regular expression to filter out unneeded drive letter is wrong. What if you will have another server, where that drive letter will be assigned to fixed disk?

Zabbix is only used for 2 servers and the the second server backups to the first server so i only need to exclude the drive letters from the discovery.

Why you just don't disable items for these drive letters?

Zabbix enable these items again because of the discovery and then will say unknown on the other 2 because those are not connected to the server
but if we swap the backup disks then it will see the other one but change the other one to unknown even when its disabled

are you sure? From my experience - if item is disabled (and even if it's not discovered anymore) - trigger for this item will not work.

Zabbix enable these items again because of the discovery
Hmm, what "Keep lost resources period" setting do you have for your discovery?

Keep lost resources period is set to 30 days
