    missing media types

    Hi.

I have upgraded my previous Zabbix installation (4.x) to the latest version (5.0.1).

In media types I can see only:

    - EMail
    - SMS
    - Jabber

but I think that should be available all new media types (Telegram, Slack, etc,)

    Why I cannot see them?

    Regards

The upgrade process alters the structure of the database to work with Zabbix 5.0.x, but it doesn't automatically update pre-defined templates, media types, or other stuff that is part of a "one time" data load. That's because each site may have made changes to the default templates or even the default media types, so automatically overwriting those changes as part of an upgrade would potentially destroy your changes.

This general idea about not replacing stuff you may have modified is documented for templates here:

Unfortunately, the upgrade docs don't make it clear that the same thing is true for new or updated media types. However, if you follow the links from the Webhook page:

You can probably find the webhooks you're interested in, and hopefully the git documentation explains how to load them into Zabbix

      Hi.

Thank you for the quick and detailed answer.

So in case of upgrades in general terms there would be the Need to manually update templates and other configurations?

There Is not a problem but you have right, Is not so clear.

      Regard

If you care about things that have been updated in the templates and if you haven't made your own changes to the templates, then yes, you would need to replace your existing templates by importing the updated versions of them. The same is true for other pre-populated configuration in the database that normally only gets loaded when you initially create the database.
