What is the best way to deal with notifications and a problem that is flapping?

For example I have a Ups with a battery temperature that is triggering and resolving over and over.

The action sends an email each time resting in tons of emails.

How do you address this sort of behavior?

Would changing the trigger expression to fire if the value is happening for a duration of time? Like 10 minutes, then fire. That way if it flaps under the 10 minutes I wouldn't get an email

The general answer is you avoid flapping/hysteresis by using careful trigger expressions and/or recovery expressions.

If you want specific suggestions, you need to provide more information about your environment: what version of Zabbix you're using, what item you're collecting, what trigger(s) is/are involved (the full expression, you can obscure the hostnames), and whether there is a recovery expression and what it is if there is one.
