EtherLike-MIB SNMP vs. Interfaces SNMP vs Interfaces SNMP Simple

Three templates are supplied in zabbix:
    • template module ether like snmp,
    • template module interfaces simple snmp,
    • template module interfaces snmp.

What is the purpose of template module ether like snmp? It only contains duplex status of the interfaces, why should one want a separate template for this and why should it not be contained in the other two?

What is the difference between the second and third ones?

Consider templates as examples on the basis of which you can make your own.
What does it matter what happened as a result of many years of trying ZABBIX to make templates work for everyone?
Study the documentation-this will open the way to flexibility and skill.

Different levels of detail are split out in to different templates. Create your own templates, and link in the sub-templates which provide the required detail. You might be interested only in interface throughput, in which case you would not link in the etherlike template, because you don't need the duplex status.
