How to set triggers per interface?

    Hello.

I have 48-ports switch. I don't want to monitor all ports on the same level. I want to set e.g. critical level on uplink and information for other ports. Would someone be kind enough to give me an example of how to do this?

For now - I go to 'Triggers' tab on host configuration and chose for example "Interface 2: Link down". But "Severity" is grayed here. I can change it in "Trigger prototypes" tab - but this is a template, so it will change for each interface. Also for the uplink.

I suppose I can do this by creating two templates - one with the condition that it executes for the uplink interface and the other for all ports except the interface mentioned earlier. Have I right? The problem is, I don't know how to write it. Someone can give an example of how to extend this condition?

The second problem is that I can change severity, but condiotion is block:

I think this is one of the pit-falls of Zabbix. It's not easy (or at least, I'm not finding it easy) to be able to apply different / additional monitoring to particular interfaces.

It might be possible to do this via a discovery job - and have the discovery apply to items with particular strings in the interface description (for example), but it would be _real_ nice if this could be just 'switched on' per-interface in the Zabbix frontend UI.

If I come up with anything I'll try and check back in here with some details on what I've done. This problem has been something I've been thinking about for a couple of years now....

cyber that looks like it would be a work around to solve my current problem. What I actually need is discovery jobs within discovery jobs (see also: this thread and this one), but creating a known list of items and then filtering their creation - the reverse of what I'm hoping to achieve - would also get me something to work with.

I'll have to wait until 6.0 comes out since the Override feature isn't in 5.0. We typically only jump major releases because an upgrade of our 800GB database sometimes requires hours of downtime.

        What version of Zabbix?
Seems like overrides in discovery can be used just for this kind of things...

        ...
