    Bulk update SNMPv3 settings

    Hi!

I am looking for directions or a general idea of how to do a bulk update of multiple hosts to use SNMPv3? The situation is that I did an autodiscovery for a boatload of switches. I can configure each host one at a time, but this may take until the end of time.

    Any thoughts?

The only way you could maybe achieve that is by using SNMP or any other type of script to create the user, group, view and access on each device automatically.
For example, Lancom devices have something like this in one of their MIBs. But don't ask me how to do this or write a script for it - I think am as clueless as you. This is the .1.3.6.1.4.1.2356.800.3.2329.1.6 MIB. There are some read/write objects for SNMP configuration:

You need to obviously check if there is any MIBs like this for your devices.

Are you asking about changing the hosts themselves to use SNMPv3, or for Zabbix to use SNMPv3 when connecting to those hosts?

Hm, I read it like he wants to change the hosts to use SNMPv3. But if he wants to just "bulk update" the host he auto discovered, you can only put credentials in a template (in the macro section) and apply the template to all SNMPv3 hosts that use these credentials. You'd still have to configure the interfaces one by one as far as I know.
      Working...
