info on importing hosts from zabbix version 1.8.2 to zabbix 5.2.5

Hello everyone, I have an installation of zabbix 1.8.2 and I should import the hosts in a new installation of zabbix 5.2.5, from what I've read in the documentation seems that the XML files generated by version 1.8 are compatible, but as soon as I try to do the import on zabbix 5.2 I receive the error "Invalid tag "/zabbix_export/hosts/host(1)/items/item(1)": the tag "port" is missing.
Do you think there is any possibility to do this operation with the standard tools of zabbix?

    thank you very much

    Hi paolo,
    I've the same exact problem.
If I'm not inappropriate how did you solve, if ever?
And where did you find documentation about xml import/export. compatibility.

    Thanks (anyway..)
    Best regards

1.8 is a tad bit old to be converted directly... It should be possible to do from version 2.0.x. So maybe you take at first look on 1.8->2.0 upgrade and then follow 2.0 to 5.x.x upgrade?
In any case, it is not a trivial task to skip so many versions and platform upgrade.. Good luck..:P
Maybe it would be easier to create those hosts (and hostgroups etc) over API instead... ? At least gives you some ways to manipulate existing data and, if needed, do some conversions etc...

cyber Many thanks for your gentle answer. I agree with you, it seems to be a little late to go from 1.8 to 5.x/6.x.
I was just curious if someone had ever tried...

And so, I'm very doubtful if - as you suggest - trying to read exported XML and feed it into new Zabbix via API or trying XML conversion (from XML exported from 1.8 to XML to be imported into a newer Zabbix)
I have only to decide and engage myself in this work.. (I could seem a little lazy, I mean...)

Thank you again for your attention and suggestions.
However it will end, I'll try to share my results...

        P.
