Zabbix ICMP Host availability

I found exactly what I want to do in the thread: Displaying the ICMP status of a hosts - ZABBIX Forums

But it is only compatible with older versions (not 5.4).

Is there any reason for the product don't support ICMP as interface and be able to update the host availability ?

Is there way using SNMP interface (without having a service running in monitored device, and a trigger that can based on ICMP response flip the host availability ? If so can you please share the trigger expression ?

You misunderstand the essence of the system's operation - the display of the interface state has an auxiliary value.
The main work is based on triggers.

That reply ignores the fact that the current design contributes negatively to glanceability and signal-to-noise ratio.

I am trying to add ICMP availability on Zabbix frontend 6.2. It seems some files have been changed from an older version. Has anyone worked on ICMP availability on frontend 6.2?

You probably wanted to ask/comment in the other thread, where Hamardaban mentioned that he was no longer maintaining that feature
