Zabbix and Firebird - not supported anymore?

Is there a way I can connect a firebird database to zabbix 5.0 LTS?

because checking this page it shows nothing

I have tried to follow the zabbix documentation that shows installation using unixODBC and installing a firebird driver, but no success.

Is there a tutorial step by step somewhere available how to connect them?

With enough effort and determination, there's almost always a way to accomplish something.

It may not be something that you can just download a template for, though. If firebird is the product I think it is, then I expect that low use means there aren't a lot of people trying to do what you're asking about, so there may not be much prior art. You may have to develop the process yourself, based on what your monitoring needs are.

How to configure ODBC in Zabbix: https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...es/odbc_checks
Now basically, what you need is firebird odbc driver: https://firebirdsql.org/en/odbc-driver/
If you don't want to compile it on your own some guys have even packaged it: https://www.devart.com/odbc/firebird...ation-dbms.htm
They have even documented on how to configure it: https://firebirdsql.org/file/documen...c205-configure
And there are Zabbix users that succeeded in that: https://www.zabbix.com/forum/zabbix-...ng-down-server
Alternatively, there are some that succeeded in monitoring Firebird using agent: https://github.com/Tacioandrade/zabb...plate-firebird

Finally, if that is too complicated Zabbix can even do all that for you: https://zabbix.com/support

Thanks for the links, the first ones for the driver I already looked into them before. Always get the 'could not connect sql' during the isql test.

the template from github is old, not compatible with version 5.0 and over I believe.

And the user that you say succeed says the he got an error when trying to connect to odbc and

        [S1000][unixODBC][Devart][ODBC][Firebird]Cannot load library: libcrypt.so.

I guess similar to mine and he couldn't solve it I guess.

About the driver, it says about activation, I dont know if it means I have to pay for the driver. It is not specified this in the documentation.

Got it, sorry. Asked some people and couldn't get any proof that it has ever worked for anyone. Do you have a specific error that prevents Zabbix from accessing Firebird. Maybe you can turn on more debug information by setting DebugLevel to 5 in zabbix_server.conf and see what's there related to ODBC or attach the part where connection happens here?

Or try the patch that fixes memory issue, it's attached here: https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-11213
