    Unable to add Vcenter correctly

    Hi,

I am very new to Zabbix. Just added a few hosts and now I am stuck with including vcenter. Found some tutorials and from what I have read I should be fine with my settings, but Zabbix is showing Vcenter with status unknown.

    Zabbix Version is:

    Code:
    root@hbvmmn01:/home/haefely# zabbix_server --version
    zabbix_server (Zabbix) 5.2.7
    Revision 91e8333180 28 June 2021, compilation time: Mar 31 2021 10:40:06

    Running with OpenSSL 1.1.1f 31 Mar 2020
    Vcenterclientversion = 6.7.0.30000

    My settings are like this:

Status of Vcenter in Zabbix is like that:

Any ideas what is going wrong?

Is there any passive item among all those added to that host ? if they all are "active" then that ZBX will stay gray.

Availability Host availability per configured interface is displayed.
Icons represent only those interface types (Zabbix agent, SNMP, IPMI, JMX) that are configured. If you position the mouse on the icon, a popup list of all interfaces of this type appears with each interface details, status and errors.
The column is empty for hosts with no interfaces.
The current status of all interfaces of one type is displayed by the respective icon color:
    Green - all interfaces available
Yellow - at least one interface available and at least one unavailable; others can have any value including 'unknown'
    Red - no interfaces available
Gray - at least one interface unknown (none unavailable)
Note that active Zabbix agent items do not affect host availability.

What do you mean with passive item? From what I read in the tutorials all my configurations should be sufficient to get vcenter monitored. After my previous post I changed the macro variable name, because the ones I was using are for Zabbix version 5.4X

        Item types...

There are passive and active agent checks. When configuring an item, you can select the required type:
        • Zabbix agent - for passive checks
        • Zabbix agent (active) - for active checks
Just click on that "items" tab in host config and see if you can see anything resembling those types.... If you see just "simple check"-s then you have done nothing wrong... its just the way it is... no passive agent checks, no green icon.

Something is confusing me. When I go to details of an item, then it is using $VMWARE.USERNAME, allthough I defined unly $USERNAME in macros. $VMWARE.USERNAME is for Zabbix 5.4x as I found in some articles

It's working now. Re-created host, used naming convention of 5.4x and all VMWare guests are now populated.
