Is there any compatibility between agents and servers ?

Dear community

can i monitor a system with installed agent version 2.2 or 5.4 from a server with zabbix 6.0 LTS ?

i wonder how compatible are Servers and Agents ? Can i monitor a Windows Server with Agent 5.4 or Agent 2.2 from a Zabbix Server with Version 6 LTS ?
Our main Zabbix Server is still Version 2.2 and i build a new one with Zabbix 6 LTS. Would it be possible to receive any data from these 2.2 or 5.4 agents into the new Server with Zabbix v6 or do i have to update all 150 agents on our Windows Servers manually so that they are compatible with new Zabbix Server v6 ?

Yes.
Zabbix server can be monitored if it is the same or older version of the agent as the server. However, Zabbix agent has various new functions added and the item keys that can be used have changed with each version upgrade. This means that older versions of the agent will not be able to monitor using the latest features of Zabbix 6.0.
