Sending Email (Action Condition) for Host Group

    Hello.

I am trying to send email notifications just for a specific Host Group.

How can I set an action > condition

First of all, choose "trigger actions" instead of "Discovery actions" and you might get a bit more useful list for conditions ...

Yes thank you that gave me what I need.

              Trigger action
Trigger name contains Unavailable by ICMP ping
              Host Group equals XX

I ran into the same problem, New action created with a condition to match a specific host group. Host belonging to the group is monitored by Zabbix agent and reported few problems under Problems. No alerts and nothing under Action log. What am I missing please?

Does that user, what you covered in red, have access to those hostgroups?

Hey Cyber, thank you, bro, for monitoring this forum and attempting to answer questions. Appreciate it very much!
I think I figured it out and hope that others will read it as well. I fixed this problem by assigning the user who is supposed to receive email alerts the SuperAdmin role.
I wonder if this is the correct way to do it from the overall security perspective of the system

User doesn't need to have super admin privileges. Normal user role will be enough, but user must have at least read permission to specific host group.

Yes, important thing is to have correct permissions. But to be honest, having that user as superadmin saves you a lot of configuration time.. :P

                              True.

Adding security controls has always negative impact to usability.

However I strongly recommend to follow principle of least privilege (at least in production environments).

Agreed, but you can disable logins, set random password etc. for that user, used for email sending.. Calculated risk, so to speak..
