Zabbix server won't start after updating Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

Front-End Error: Zabbix server is not running: The displayed information may not be current

I have updated Ubuntu 20.04 to 20.04.4 and now my server stopped running.

I tried changing cache size to 27M, 64M, 1G, and even to 64G but nothing seems to be working.

    By checking the status zabbix-server.service,

    it was giving PID error:

zabbix-server.service: can't open PID file /run/zabbix/zabbix_server.pid (yet?) after start: operation not permitted

I have tried restarting the services but nothing seems to be working

Please, refer to the attached images for a better understanding of the situation. Thank you in Advance!

Based on that picture, everything should be running already for 3 days...
That pid file error can be avoided with pointing pid file location to some other place in config and restarting. I have seen this, but dont remember the issue.. just /run/zabbix was not present at the time of startup.. But what was done to keep it, don't remember..:P

You error in frontend may be related to frontend not being able to connect to server port... it does its own checks. Maybe your upgrade added some FW or other rules?

      Thank you for your reply!

You're right, I also believe that my front end is having a hard time connecting to the network.

The attached picture is what I'm getting right now. What can be done? Do you happen to know?

      Thanks : )

I have figured it out now. My defined values weren't matching in zabbix_server.conf and zabbix.conf.php files.

        Question:
I have about 700+ hosts added on Zabbix by setting up discovery rules by defining IP ranges. I just realized that Zabbix is adding DHCP leased devices too and I don't want them so I shortened the IP ranges in the discovery rules so it can only target the devices I want to add.

It should remove/unregister the devices from the old IP range itself, right?

or is there a way to remove them all at once?

        Thank you : )
