    Parent to Child Setup

We currently have a large network with multiple switches and multiple devices used at each switch.
We have Zabbix setup to report on every item. The problem with this is if a switch goes down, then everything on that switch reports a problem when it should cut off at the switch and only report the switch being the problem.

I have looked into triggers and I believe this could be the option by telling the trigger to check the above "parent" item to see if its down if it is don't report it.

Would this be a way to do it? or is there another way that would simplify it?Inputting triggers for each item to detect a parent item is not very efficient.

    Hi,

You need to use Trigger Dependency option.
It is found at Configuration-->Hosts or Templates-->Triggers-->click on your trigger--->Dependencies

Note: You need to create separate trigger only for switch. Then with Mass update option you can set dependency for all your triggers that are dependant on this one (switch) trigger.

When switch will go down, then Zabbix will fire just one problem.

There is good manual for it at zabbix.com - https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...s/dependencies

        Hello,

Were you able to implement this feature in zabbix? If so, how did you do it?
