How to check only physical interfaces and not sub interfaces

Hi All

I am having problem with deploying proper way on reporting on link status on physical interfaces and not sub interfaces. My goal is to alert ONLY on PHYSICAL interface status without getting further alerts from sub interfaces linked to it.
So, let's say, if eth0/0 goes down I will receive one and only alert for eth0/0 and NOT on eth0/0.1 eth0/0.2 etc.


Can anyone advise? It will be highly appreciated as I have spent countless hours on different forums.

Set your custom rules for Regular expressions in menu
"Admin -> General -> Macros -> Network interfaces for discovery"

I don't seem to have that option by the way you indicated, I am using Zabbix 3.0 and have the following when I get to Admin > General I end up in GUI. No potions for macros.

Hint: check the dropdown menu in the top right of the General screen.
