Hi,
I have installed 3.0.3 (now .4) from Debian Packages. The default setup contains a host "Zabbix server", obviously intended to monitor itself.
This has pulled in the snmpd packages as a dependency:
# apt-cache showpkg snmpd
...
Reverse Depends:
zabbix-server-pgsql,snmpd
zabbix-server-mysql,snmpd
Looking at "ps -ef" I see that the snmpd daemon has used a lot more CPU time than any other active processes. But I do not want Zabbix server to monitor itself (I have other things doing that), and the "Zabbix server" host is disabled.
My question: Can I safely # apt purge snmpd ???
Cheers,
Tim Reeves
