    Agent Performance

I am very new to zabbix and this forum so go easy on me :P, I would like to measure the resource utilization (RAM/CPU/network) on the zabbix endpoint agents, so I can establish a baseline and to provide mgt w/ a proof of concept

My server version is Zabbix 6.4.3
    Agent version is 6.4.6

    Any guidance is greatly appreicated.

There is a zabbix agent template provided, it's usually linked to the OS template you would use to monitor the host. I added proc.cpu.util, proc.mem, and agent.variant (with value mapping) to the template. I don't know the age of my template vs what is current, so some of these may be standard now. If you use both zabbix_agentd and zabbix_agent2, either add both or use a macro to pick a default and override where needed.

The agent may appear to be a major user on low utilization systems. Usage also depends on what you are monitoring and item frequency. If you have userparameters, their usage will probably show under the Zabbix agent.

There is no cure for luddites residing in management positions :-)

For host cpu/ram metrics you should probably assign a template "Windows by Zabbix agent" or "Windows by Zabbix agent (active)" depending how your agent is configured... passive or active.

also, i replicate the template for linux and that looks to be working although the amount of memory for agent is at 580M which seems high

Use that number to compare to other processes, not to total memory. If you sum all process mem, it may be more than ram on the system. I think it’s the sum used by all zabbix_agentd processes but much of it is shared.

Only supported on Linux and Solaris, hence it not working on your Windows agents.
