Read $SYS topic of the mosquitto MQTT Broker.

hi.

i haven been working on getting zabbix 7. and Agent2 to work with the mosquitto broker.
we use piece off software called openwebrx+ to feed the mqtt broker.
this works after some messing around with ipadresses, hostname . but it works .

i can read the topics and need to do some more data processing to get something usefull out of the data.

so now i though why not also monitor the broker....

i found after some searching a template and together what is learned sofar about zabbix and MQTT , i imported the template, and it does not work.

i found that the $SYS does not seem t work with the agent.

i tested the command on the with the following (added single ' ' ) to "isolated" the $

mosquitto_sub -d -t '$SYS/broker/clients/active'


doeing the same on the zabbix item does not seem to work. =>

mqtt.get[{$MQTTBROKER},'$SYS/broker/clients/active']

i can see the $SYS topic when connecting to the broker with mqtt explorer.

I also have an issue with the subscription to the SYS topics with Zabbix agent. I use the same template, however, in my case, I only get data for some but not all of the SYS topics. And the weird thing is, that whenever messages on the relevant topics are transmitted, Zabbix agent receives a different portion of topics and for most of them I see subscription timeout error. I think it has something to do with https://www.zabbix.com/forum/zabbix-...ken-by-timeout. Also see this open issue: https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-25236
There seems to be a general issue with MQTT in Zabbix. I hope, this will be fixed.
