How to Monitor Device Restarts Using Zabbix (SNMP)

I have a device added to Zabbix via SNMP, and I want to simply track and display the number of times it has restarted.

What’s the easiest way to set this up? Do I need to create a custom SNMP item or a trigger?

I tried now for about 4 hours to do this but I simply cannot get it right

I would try creating a trigger which acts upon a device restart.
Then create a dependent item which would track the number of triggers.

Creating a trigger based on it easy (last value has to be smaller than previous). But how exactly to count those cases over time...
