SNMP v3 failing but snmpwalk works

I have a debian 10 based network appliance that's using SNMP v3... I have logged into the zabbix server it self and verified I can use an snmpwalk to authenticate and access data, but when I enter the correct information into zabbix host details, it always just says status = unknown and never gathers data.

I've tried everything for hours... I am perplexed.
