Simply for basic information you dont need any agent, just use LLD - low level discovery. In creating host use zabbix agent interface and as a template -Template Virt VMware
maybe change discovery time on some lower value to get results instantly and then get it back... Through this i maped every Hypervisor and his VMs almost instantly in my network.

        Hi, mthm!

So ESXi actually is a part of VMware. However, Zabbix do not recommend to use Appliances on prod server, but in case you want there is an VirtualBox, VMWare (.vmdk) version of Appliance.

But I suggest you to go through the installation by yourself to understand the components of Zabbix and their purpose. The Zabbix installation is pretty easy and not a rocket science if you are installing from Repos:

        1. Install repo
        2. Update
        3. Install your favorite DB (list of supported DB: ). Zabbix recommends to use MySQL
        4. Install zabbix-server zabbix-agent zabbix-frontend zabbix-get zabbix-send
        5. Few lines in configs and then just Next - Next - Next and you're up & happy.

Here is the detailed link: https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...y_installation (you can just copy-paste commands) , the main thing about your installation vs appliance is that in your installation you will decide which OS and Version to use (REHL/CentOS, Ubuntu/Debian), which components of os you will want to install from the box, which DB to use and some specific OS settings.

In case you want to monitor your ESXi Hosts, then you need, as kasik suggested, to use Zabbix built-in tools for monitoring ESXi VMware. The only thing you need to know is the username, password and https://<your-esxi-ip>/sdk link.

Create a host, add it to the template and put the specific values inside. Just easy and they you will pre-configured metrics info for your ESXi Host as well as automatic discovery of your ESXi Guest VMs.

        More about it: https://www.zabbix.com/documentation.../vm_monitoring

        Regards,
        Alex
