FIrst time setting up discovery rules. I don't have the "execute now" button.

We have a new installation of Zabbix 7.0.30. I've never used the product before. I created a Discovery Rule to find our UPSes. It didn't show any results the next morning. I wanted to run the rule manually to troubleshoot the issue, but that button is not shown at the bottom of the rules list when I check-mark the rule I want to run. Just Enable, Disable, and Delete are shown. My user account is set to Zabbix Admin permissions, so I expect I have enough rights to see all the options. Is there a step I am missing?

Network discovery rules do not have such button.

ah... Low level discovery... My first thought was network discovery, as you went to discover UPS-es, which usually are quite dumb devices responging to SNMP, which is one of the main methods in network disco..
Fine, with LLD disco, it depends, what kind of discovery you have there... if your discovery is a dependent type, then you cannot run discovery "on demand", but youhave to run that item, which provides data for discovery, for example...

What makes a discovery a "Dependant type"?

As a test, I tried to run a discovery on a single IP that I know a UPS has. I also tried a range of IPs that I know a site's UPSes live on. I put the MIB OID for the model of the UPS in the checks. I did NOT use any macros, as I haven't gotten that far in learning Zabbix.

If you are using an APC brand of UPS you (or someone else who runs it) might want to confirm that the UPS is setup to accept SNMP connections from your Zabbix server.

The web interface to the APC UPS can have up to 4 different SNMP connections trying to query it.

We have Tripp-Lite UPSes. I know they are fine with SNMP because I have been monitoring them for years with SolarWinds.

Sort of a follow-up question. On my Zabbix frontend, I have discovery in Monitoring and in Data Collection. They both just say Discovery. Which would be referred to as "Low Level Discovery"?
