    monitor mulitple sites

    Hi,

    after some testing with zabbix 1.1.6 I have some litte questions about various bits. Setting it up costs much time I realize, specially because there's no A-Z documentation yet. My most important question and I hope this is doable with zabbix, is to have something like bigbrother has. An overview of mulitple sites.

    Explaination:

    I have 14 sites, each sites has network devices and servers to monitor. So what I want is a page with the sitenames and a status led besidide it. All leds of sites are green and when a severe error is happened the led turns red and I can quickly see the problem and click on the sitename/led to detailview the site nodes.

    I think this is done by maps, am I right? But then I have no clue on how to create a map. Is there a manual for this or downloadable maps? Guess I have to paint somthing and add icons? Totally clueless here.

    Thanks in advance.

      savl, thanks. that's what I think I need.

      Another question, if sites would be distinguisheable by a map and one clicks on a site on the map, can zabbix be configured so that an overview is displayed with nodes only within the site?

      I know one can group hosts, say I have 2 sites - A and B and in every site I have 5 unix and 5 windows machines to monitor can I do somthing like:

      General Hostgroup "UNIX MACHINES"->include 10 unix machines from A and B
      General Hostgroup "WIN32 MACHINES"->include 10 win32 machines from A and B

      Then I narrow this to site host groups?:

      Hostgroup "SITE A" -> contains 5 unix and 5 win32 machines
      Hostgroup "SITE B" -> contains 5 unix and 5 win32 machines

      Possible?

      Thanks,

        Well, I think you can create new groups Site A and Site B and add your machines there. In version 1.3.4 which I'm currently testing, it's possible to add host to several groups.

          All versions of ZABBIX (including 1.1.x) do support this!
