    Zabbix on RHEL 5

Hello! I need to install Zabbix 1.4.2 on Red Hat Enterprise 5 legal copy. I want to now if I'm going to be on trouble on installation, and wich versions of mysql and php are the best for this.
    Thank you

Get the EPEL repo from http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL/FAQ#howtouse
and then "yum --enablerepo=epel-testing install zabbix zabbix-agent zabbix-web". It will install Zabbix plus all packages that are required for Zabbix to run.

      3 dependences not found

Hello! I did it, but it could'nt resolve 3 dependences, php-gd, php-mysql and another one I can't remember... If I get them for myself, I found new dependences, so it is a hard and tedious work. Would you help me another time?

Strange, these packages are built from main php source package. What kind of RHEL 5 do you have?

          Version Server

          Thank you!
I could make installation in a Computer with license, just doing what you told me, I supose it gets the 3 rpm's from the red hat repos, but I'm trying to make another install into a Virtual machine with no license for devoloping and testing, and here is where I have the problems.
The third rpm it can't get is php-bcmath.

My version is RHEL 5 server (NOT 64), if I try to get the dependences for myself I can't install some rpm's because they are asking me some dependences that I allready have!!!

If you need more info please tell me.

It is clear now :-) I would suggest to do the development on CentOS 5 which should be binary compatible with RHEL 5. Then yum will resolve all the depencies (it is possible that the php-gd, -mysql and -bcmath will require other packages to be downloaded). Or you can use rpms from CentOS and install them in Redhat.

You can also follow the steps I wrote for CentOS (which is about 99.8% the same as RHEL)

                So, wich version?

Thank you another time, your help is lighting my way!

OK, I will try with CentOS, I'm just downloading CentOS 5.0, but is this equal to RHEL5 server?? There is a server version of CentOS 5?? Do you think I'll have problems if I devolope on CentOS and I put zabbix devoloped after into RHEL 5?
Excuse me, I'm asking too much!!!

CentOS is a superset of all RHEL "versions". And I don't think there could be a problem with the transfer CentOS x -> RHEL x.

Yes, the same as for CentOS 5, the command is also the same.

You dont have to install CentOS to follow the directions, just follow the steps for installing zabbix starting with the "Installation Prerequisites". Anytime you see CentOS 5 you can substitute RHEL 5. I havent tested it on RHEL but it should work step for step as they are 99% the same.

FYI We have CentOS 5 in our compile farm for regression and automated build. I wouldn't expect any buuild problems on this platform.

Just a quick question, when I do
                            Code:
                            yum info zabbix zabbix-agent zabbix-web
I am pulling back info for only 1.4.1. Is 1.4.2 in the repo yet?

                            EDIT:
Nevermind, I was missing the "--enablerepo=epel-testing". It is in the testing EPEL repository.
