Stability stability and stability. We just can't have releases leaking memory like 1.6.2. In 24 hours it has eaten up 3GB RAM. I have to restart it every day. this isn't good.

More focus on bugs than new features at the moment.

If I could wish for features it's a more complex user rights system. I'd like to be able to give my customers a view of just their port in a switch. Now I can give them nothing or the entire switch.

Bug fixing IS our primary focus currently!

I think his point might have been more about making a bug fix and then making it available for the current version. Perhaps it would be useful to make a patchset available for existing bugs for the version or versions the bug was reported for. You don't need to change the release version, but if you need the bugfix you can use it now and not have to wait for the next release, you (the end user) just have to do the work yourself.

that's more or less possible already through the svn.
i've had patches applied through the automated upgrade procedure before.
to play the guessing game, i'd guess he meant less bugs slipping through to the releases

(there we go again, showing that a single thread for such a discussion isn't feasible =) )

My problem is the highly unstable releases. I really don't care about svn versions and patches flying around. I'm in need of a product which is stable when running the latest stable release. Hunt down bugs and release a stable versions.

                  Vpn/tls/ssh

I use Zabbbix to monitor several hosts at remote sites over the Internet, and plan to extend this type of usage.

Although the data isn't really that sensitive, who cares that / is 85% full, but the command sessions could be abused.

I've seen discussion on the forum about using TLS to secure these connections and others who use VPN's/stunnel in these situations.

What would be really good would be enhancing the protocol to allow a Zabbix server to initiate a passwordless SSH session with certificates to a client system.

This is a high priority in my environment.

                  Thanks

                  Ken

                    Possible Solution for Report Generation?

Java developers discussing Java J2EE, java software, Java programming and other trends in server side development

I would love to see two things:

1.) a few standard reports that can be generated about availability that are more extensive then the current system in 1.6.x that have graphs and overall better ability for layout that are presentable and exportable in pdf format etc.

2.) ad-hoc report generation similar to what jasper and pentaho do. This one is a *LOT* more complex and more effort involved I know.

                    Thanks,
                    Andrew

Please Print GMT on All Charts in the Future!

                      Hello,

Can you please put the timezone, in GMT, on all charts in the future?

Now the charts have a time scale with no reference.

                      Thanks!

Support for Nagios plugins is already available in 1.4.x
Just use a very small (almost) generic wrapper script:

                        Code:
                        check_dns nagios-plugin-parameter1 nagios-plugin-parameter2 ... > /dev/null 2>&1
                        echo $?
                        That's it.

                          Hi all

Don't know if this has been discussed yet, but I would love to see a patch tracking system in Zabbix

                          e.g :

                          - a patch has been released regarding the memory leak in Zabbix 1.6.2
                          - a patch has been release regarding crash xxxx, consider upgrading

                          etc.

                            Log scale

I would like to request that we be able to set up the y-axis on graphs with a log scale. Many of my checks are based on response time which is generally under a 100ms, but there are times when the response is 1 or 2 seconds. This leaves me to deal with either points being plotted off of the graph or making the y axis span a large range and not be able to see the points well since most are close to 0.

                              Please add calculated item support

Since at least 2007 many people have asked this feature...
                              ex :

For example i just want to graph the used memory... today noway to have an item like this : vm.memory.size[total]-vm.memory.size[available]

Now, we can just do math... on triggers... the only math permitted on an item is a multiplier...

There's many example where you want to have an item calculated...

please add such functionnality and i will convert my IT to zabbix!

                                flap detection

                                Hi,

It would be nice to see something like flap detection in Nagios.
Sometimes i get hundreds of messages in an hour because some of servers or swiched begins to flap
